The cornea and methods for measuring intraocular pressure

چکیده

Introduction: The study aimed to assert the relationship between central corneal thickness (CCT) and intraocular pressure (IOP) measured by: Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) Dynamic contour (DCT). Materials Methods: included 150 patients with a mean age of 59.39 ± 13.12 years. Patients were divided into three groups: 50 primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) patients, ocular hypertension (OHT) normal tension (NTG) patients. IOP was determined using GAT DCT. CCT by ultrasound pachymetry. Results: DCT higher than (19.80 3.67 mmHg vs 17.71 3.35 mmHg). A significant positive association found in all (r = 0.867, p < 0.01). significantly POAG 0.855, <0.01), OHT 0.826, 0.01), NTG 0.832, 0.01) found. correlation 0.198, as well There no neither nor separately patient groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: CCT-influenced both methods, can not replace GAT, but it is very useful, especially cases where errors are measurement.

Intraocular Pressure Measurements by Three Different Tonometers in Children with Aphakic Glaucoma and a Thick Cornea

Background: To evaluate the agreement in intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements by Ocular Response Analyzer (ORA) and Tono-Pen XL (TXL) with the Goldmann Applanation Tonometer (GAT) and to examine corneal biomechanical properties in aphakic glaucoma patients with a central corneal thickness (CCT) >600 µ. Methods: Thirty-six eyes of aphakic glaucoma patients (group 1) and 40 eyes of normal chil...

Comparison of three intraocular pressure measurement methods including biomechanical properties of the cornea.

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to show the usefulness of three methods for measuring IOP: Goldmann applanation tonometry, rebound tonometry, and Ultra-High-Speed Scheimpflug technology. METHODS The examined group consisted of 96 patients (192 eyes), including 63 women and 33 men with a mean age of 59.3 ± 19.9 years. Together, 152 healthy eyes and 40 eyes with different pathologies were exa...

Prof. A.P.Nesterov TRANSPALPEBRAL TONOMETER FOR INTRAOCULAR PRESSURE MEASURING

Eye tonometry is one of the leading methods used in the patient with ophthalmopathology checkup. The first tonometer acceptable for clinical practice was designed and described in 1884 by A.N.Maklakov [2]. The tonometers introduced earlier had serious drawbacks and were not used in clinical practice. Before this the intraocular pressure (IOP) was evaluated only approximately with the help of ey...

Evaluation of the diurnal intraocular pressure fluctuations and blood pressure under dehydration due to fasting

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the diurnal intraocular pressure fluctuations under dehydration conditions and the relationship between the intraocular pressure fluctuations and blood pressure. Methods: The intraocular pressures (IOP), body weights, as well as systolic and diastolic blood pressures (SBP, DBP) of 36 fasting healthy volunteers were recorded at 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m...
